Face LiftFace Lift

Putting your best face forward may be more challenging as you mature, but a face lift can help. Today's modern techniques are subtler and less invasive than those of the past, meaning you'll look less “done”, more rested and relaxed.

Face Lift Risks

Even though you go home the same day as your surgery, a face lift is serious business. As with all surgery, there are risks that you must consider carefully. Every type of surgery involves the risks of complications such as bleeding, infection, and problems with anesthesia. These risks are greater for anyone who is a smoker or who has an underlying health condition such as circulatory or heart problems, asthma, or diabetes.

The risks that are specific to a face lift include poor healing and visible scars. Some people do not heal well and the scars that should be inconspicuous end up being rather visible. Poor healing may also end up causing the two sides of the face to heal slightly differently, which can make the face look a bit lopsided.

Another risk is that the skin of the face may be pulled too tightly. The incisions may also pucker. This may lead to problems with wound healing, but also may simply look bad.

If incisions are placed behind the hairline, it may cause the hair to fall out in that area. This kind of hair loss is more likely if the skin and scalp have been pulled too tight. You may also simply be dissatisfied with the way your face looks after your face lift.
