Facial definition is a delicate balance of proportion and symmetry, and it's a goal that can be achieved with facial implants for the jaw, chin, and cheeks, and injectable fillers.

Facial Implants Risks

Inserting facial implants is relatively minor surgery, but no surgery is without risks. There are the risks of complications due to anesthesia and excess bleeding. Many facial implants are inserted through incisions inside the mouth. Oral incisions generally heal quicker than incisions through the skin, but they have a greater risk of becoming infected.

You may experience numbness or loss of sensation in the area over the implant or the incision area. This numbness usually goes away, but may be permanent.

If the implant becomes infected, it may need to be removed. It is also possible that the implant may become dislodged, in which case you will need surgery to reposition it or remove it. Solid smooth implants can be removed relatively easily, but some implants cannot be.

You may be dissatisfied with the results of your surgery even if nothing goes wrong. You may feel that your chin, cheek, or jaw are now too prominent or feel that your face is asymmetrical.
