Full lips – not just a dream anymore. There was a time that you were pretty much stuck with what you had in the lip department. However, today's injectable fillers and lip implants can give you the perfect pout.

Lip Augmentation Risks

The risks of lip augmentation are less than with many types of cosmetic surgery because it is less invasive.

The biggest risk of injectable fillers is having an allergic reaction to the filler itself. This would cause swelling, soreness, and in serious cases, difficulty breathing and anaphylactic shock. Many lip fillers are gradually absorbed by the body, but they may not be absorbed evenly, which means that your lips may become asymmetrical. The injected material can also migrate from where you wanted it to where you don't or it can form lumps if it was not injected properly.

The biggest risk with having a lip implant inserted is infection. While the implant can be removed if this happens, you may end up with scarring that can cause some asymmetry of your lips.
