RhinoplastyRhinoplasty

Nose jobs have been done in the United States and Europe since the mid-1800's, and the medical profession's quest to enhance the shape, appearance, and functionality of the nose hasn't slowed down since.

Rhinoplasty Risks

Rhinoplasty has risks, just like every other type of surgery. You could develop an infection, have a problem with anesthesia, or bleed excessively. These problems could happen with any surgery.

With nasal surgery, you could also experience problems with your sense of smell. Your sense of smell usually comes back to normal, but in rare cases may not. You may also have scarring inside the nose that can impair your breathing a bit. Some people are left with an annoying whistling noise when they breath.

Rhinoplasty is a procedure that can leave you unhappy with the results. It is the cosmetic procedure that has the highest rate of revision surgeries. Even with an excellent surgeon and no complications, a nose can heal poorly. Many people are unhappy with the aesthetic results after a rhinoplasty. One reason is they cannot get used to their new nose. However, healing after a nose job can take a long time. Although most swelling is gone within the first few weeks after surgery, it can take as long as a year for the last bit of swelling to completely resolve.
